General Information:
Camps are offered at the Center for Blade Arts facilities. Camps are half-day and run M-F for one week per session, and are designed to be both fun and educational. We offer several camps for beginners and two for experienced fencers who have attended a camp previously.
Kids are paired up with fencers their own age for the beginner camps.
Camp fees run $139 per week.
Beginner Camps, Olympic Fencing
We provide all equipment needed to fence in these camps, and these half-day sessions are designed to turn new fencers into experienced ones. Due to the concentrated nature of these camps, we have been extremely successful in quickly developing fencers.
We cover:
Intermediate Camp This camp is for fencers who have attended at least one Beginner Camp with us. It reviews the concepts previously taught, and goes into more depth with concepts and technique. Situational competitive exercises and bouting are emphasized after the conceptual, perceptual and technical exercises are completed. Strategy and awareness skills are a part of all practices, and transfer well to other sports, along with increased body awareness - but most of all, the camp is fun!
Advanced Camp "The Fencer's Methodology of Training" Manual is used to teach how to develop a winning strategy for particular opponents and for an entire competition. The camp consists of intensive training sessions in technique, perception, strategy, and bouting. Competitions will be a part of each day's program, with individual attention to how each fencer should direct his/her own development. This is the only time during the year when such an in-depth, comprehensive analysis is given on the topic of strategy. The camp is fun, and provides a great learning experience for competitive fencers. It is a major step up from the intermediate camp, and requires at least 100 hours of fencing experience.
