Free Equipment Use
Loaner Equipment
The Minnesota Sword Club provides free equipment use for new fencers during the first three months to avoid the need of purchasing. We want new fencers to try the sport with minimal costs. This equipment can also be used when you are an experienced fencer and forget an item at home. It is expected that fencers will start purchasing their own equipment after 2 or 3 months.
New Fencing Equipment
The Minnesota Sword Club is the only retail outlet for fencing equipment in Minnesota. A full range of the appropriate fencing equipment for your skill level is available. We have selected from various suppliers the equipment that is best for beginning and intermediate fences. Our chosen equipment has been selected for quality and price and has been used to win numerous awards by our fencers at all levels of competition. The coaches help you know what is needed so you get what is correct. Some equipment needs to be warn for correct size and other pieces may be purchased a little large for growing.
Most fencers purchase fencing equipment one piece at a time to spread the cost. A newer fencer approaching the three month period for rejoining needs to have the following equipment:
-a fencing glove
-a fencers jacket
-an underarm protector
-a mask
-a foil, saber or epee
This list is roughly in the sequence most newer fencers purchase their equipment. When a fencer is ready, purchasing will seem like the right thing to do.
