The Local Area
Chicago Avenue and 48th Street is a quaint shopping area close to a 35W exit.Local Shops and Restaurants - all with in a half block walk
The Minnesota Sword Club is in a small shopping area crossed by Chicago Avenue and 48th Street. In this area there are eleven restaurants, two gift shops, Amazon Books plus a variety of other stores. You may eat at:
--Turtle Bread: Wonderful foods to eat in and breads to take out. People come from all over for this restaurant.
--LaVans: A family bistro with great food and a wonderful chef. You will have to try it to find out how good it is.
--Papitoes Mexican Restaurant, Great mexican food. Just be careful because you might eat too much.
--Michael's Cafe' & Wine Bar: Eat in or take out. A nice place to sit, relax and enjoy some good food and wine.
--Pizza Biga: Wood fired pizza. If you like special pizza you will like their pizza.
--Bogu
Sushi: Sushi and Thai are their speciality. They have a great patio and
it is beautiful inside. The food is really good. You need to try them
if you like asian food.
--Adrians: Great hamburgers and fries. It is a 3.2 bar that fencers go to after practice.
--Saverign Ground: A family run coffee house with home made cake. My favorite coffee house.
--Chinese Take out: It's on 48th. Bring your supper home already cooked. Great fried rice.
--Pizza
Hut: Take out only. The kids like to order, walk over, eat the pizza at
the Sword Club and leave the empty boxes for the coaches. (Typical
teenages)
--Pumphouse Ceamery: Home made ice cream. They have been
listed in the top five home made ice cream shops in the Twin Cities
Aare. Good ice cream. The fencers eat a lot of it.
In the Sword Club are tables and desks for you to do work and/or eat the food you purchased. Many parents bring work with them since they are where no one will disturb them. There is also easy parking next to the Minnesota Sword Club
