Photo Gallery
A thank you to the fencer's parents who provide
the photos for this page by uploading them to Flickr.com.
The
photos
shown in the following galleries reflect who is taking the
pictures. If parents of saber fencers brought cameras to the meet and
up-loaded photos, the ones shown here will reflect that. Other pictures,
especially those during practices, are taken by Rich Jacobson. The galleries sometimes take a while to load so just wait a minute and they will load.

Club Championships and the 26th Anniversary Party
The MSC Club Championships was a great success with fencers from the youth, teen, competitive and adult groups. Everyone competed a number of times and had the chance to experience a real competition in a fun environment. The Anniversary Party was held in the early evening followed by the fence off of the top four competitors in each weapon and age group. It was a fun day and evening.____________________________________________________________________
25th Anniversary Party and Club Championship Final
The Minnesota Sword Club has been at the same facilities for 25 years. Head coach, Rich Jacobson had black hair when it started. (it is quite gray now, but still there.) Every year we have a competition in October celebrating another anniversary. During regular class time the fencers, kids and adults, fence off. The top four in each age group and weapon compete in the evening at the Anniversary Party. Parents get to see what their children or adults friends have been learning and the fencers have a great time, as usual.____________________________________________________________________
Parents Silly Sword Fighting
This is a special event run by the Members Association for the parents of club fencers. For this event the club fencers become coaches and taught their parents how to fence in under an hour, though many cheated by practicing extra. The parents then competed against each other. Any parent with real experience as a fencer was excluded from the competition. The experience of running the parents through registration, competing and awards gave them knowledge of what their kids feel and do at a competition. It also gave the kids awareness of what their real coaches go through when teaching them. The parents had a great time with many commenting, "Now I know why my kid likes to fence." to sum it all up, it was a fun time for the coaches (kids) and the fencers (parents). In the photo gallery are pictures by fencer (dad) John Robinson of the registration, competition and some awards.

The coach, Linda Duncan can be seen in some of the other pictures. Tyler Clayton, the other youth coach, is not pictured her.____________________________________________________________________

St Paul Academy High School Invitational
Photos from the St Paul Academy Invitational on January 19, 2008. Parents of saber fencers brought their cameras to this meet. There were a lot of Minnesota high school fencers competing. It was an excellent competition. The Minnesota Sword Club won many medals. The fencers left very happy.____________________________________________________
Main West High School Invitational In Chicago
It
was a fun trip to Chicago. Only fencers who want to travel attend. We
like everyone to attend but the fencers often have homework or other
commitments so the strength of the squad varies greatly from trip to
trip. We still did well, see results page, and everyone had a great
time.____________________________________________________________________
Catholic Memorial High School Invitational in Milwaukee
It was a good day and a good competition. We took two firsts, a third, a fifth and a seventh place. Even the fencers who are moving up had a great time. Winning is great but participating is what it is all about. At every competition we expect the fencers to learn as well as perform. Fencing at the Minnesota Sword Club is a life time learning experience.___________________________________________________________________________
Crossroads Regional Youth Tournament
Events are for kids 14 and under, 12 and under, 10 and under. It is a great competition for kids to compete against other kids their own age. The Sword Club did very well. The fencers showed what they had been practicing and learning. The coaches were very pleased. By the way, the kids also had a great time between bouts, pools and in the evening. There is more to a fencing trip then competing.___________________________________________________________________________
Youth Classic '08, Lincoln Nebraska
About a dozen fencers and a few parents, plus one coach headed for Lincoln, Nebraska in early May '08. The purpose was to fence and see how well each fencer could do. The more experienced fencers took home medals and trophies and the less experienced took home experience. All had fun and a great experience. Not only do the fencers fence, they also socialize, and socialize and socialize. Coach Geoff Jones led the group of fencers and parents. Fencing trips are a good time and a good experience.____________________________________________________________________________
